I’d just gotten into the chapter “Jumping to Conclusions” when I saw this study on why there’s more cancer on the left side of the body. http://www.scientificamerican.com/blog/post.cfm?id=left-sided-cancer-blame-your-bed-an-2010-07-02.
This chapter also reminds me of a piece of information I heard years ago about how folks who commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge are still, in their last moments, trying to connect to people because they jump facing the Bay and all the people who live there. It wasn’t until years later after I moved to the Bay Area that I found out what the more likely reason was. You can only walk on the side of the bridge that faces into the Bay. 😉
